Investing in Future Generations
The Vision
To invest in future generations.
We will not hide them from their children,
but tell to the coming generation
the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might,
and the wonders that he has done. - Psalm 78:4
Our primary goal is to achieve the mission of the commission in the Ashe community, and it must begin right here. Jefferson is our Jerusalem, and this church is our base of operations. Ashe Alliance is the epicenter of our efforts.
So, we must ask ourselves how we make, baptize, and teach disciples. Who do we reach, or specifically, who is God putting in front of us?
And right now, the answer is… children and young families. In a year and a half, we have gone from 0 to over 40 children & youth. God is drawing young families to us to disciple the next generation.
This is not about growing for the glory of Ashe Alliance Church. It is purposeful growth for God’s glory and the proclamation of His gospel.
The Building Plan
This expansion would provide:
Children’s Ministry
- 2,679 sq. ft. of additional children’s ministry space (to put that into perspective, the square footage of the lobby through the classrooms is 2,512 sq. ft.!). That is 4x our current space!
- 21×17 (357 sq. ft.) worship space for the kids that does not yet exist.
- That will live beside another 21×17 space for the 4th-6th graders (existing sq. ft. is 168).
- An additional 21×17 space for K-3rd grade
- A back-to-back space for toddlers that is 15×17 and 12×17
- A preschool room that does not yet exist that is 23×17
- Plus, bathrooms and a dedicated check-in space.
Youth Ministry
- Increase from 168 sq. ft. to 672 sq. ft.
- That’s 4x the space!

The Prayer Plan
Click image to download the devotional.
The purpose of this devotional is to turn our focus toward the importance of being a good steward of all that God has given to us. We want to remember that whatever we have comes from God, and that we are called to use those gifts with which He has blessed us to glorify Him.
At the beginning of each week, take 5-10 minutes to think about and complete the exercises for that week. At the end of each week, review the weekly exercises to see if there are any changes.
Use the daily scripture and discussion point as a time to concentrate on God. Hopefully, this will be used by the whole family, perhaps it will generate discussion around the dinner table or serve as something to meditate on throughout the day.
It could also be used as a discussion topic in a small group.
Try to finish each day’s devotion with prayer. Consider the prayer topics in the box at the beginning of the week as guidelines for prayer.
The whole devotion is meant to take 10-20 minutes per day.
Finally, don’t be discouraged if you miss a day. Each day stands on its own, and you can focus your thoughts, prayers, and discussion on that day’s Scripture.
FAQs
Great question. Much planning preceded the recommendation from Pastor Nate and the elders to determine a strategy for providing more space for teaching and equipping our current and future generations. During that time many options were considered. While prayerfully considering how best to equip future generations with the gospel, it became apparent that we needed additional space. Only when we concluded that we would not be sacrificing ministry but, rather, enhancing the proclamation of the gospel did we recommend expanding our present facility.
While it is our prayer that the Lord will use this emphasis to provide resources for the new facility, the capital campaign is a time of teaching that God owns everything - our time, talents, treasures. We are simply managers. When we understand that, the rest takes care of itself. Our goal is that, through stewardship teaching, each of us will surrender everything to Jesus Christ.
There are four sources available to fund our expansion project. They are:
- Cash currently in our Building Fund
- Immediate cash and non-cash gifts
- Regular weekly or monthly gifts given over three years
- Borrowed funds if necessary
Yes, there are three general categories under which you can make your commitment:
- Immediate gifts from accumulated cash
- Regular weekly or monthly gifts of a specified amount over the next three years
- Non-cash assets such as property, stocks, bonds, etc.
We assume that if you make a commitment in good faith, relying upon God to help you meet it, you will complete it without any further contact from church leaders. However, there are some very practical reasons for having names on commitments:
- Confusion. Sometimes there may be confusion when interpreting a Commitment Card. Having a name allows the person tabulating the commitments to get the issue clarified before reporting totals to the congregation.
- Loan Requirements. If your project funding plan requires bank financing, it’s not unusual for the lender to ask whether the church has signed pledges in hand (unsigned pledges would be less positive for the lender).
- People Forget. Over the course of a three-year timeframe, it is not unusual for a few people to lose or misplace the personal copy of their commitment. Without names, it is impossible to provide a reminder to anyone even at their own request.
- Pledge Validation. The church needs to know that the pledge is valid. Strange as it might seem, there have been known instances where a well-meaning teenager mistakenly completed a large pledge with dire consequences to the church campaign. Without names, you have no way of knowing whether the pledge has validity.
Chart of Gifts
The chart of gifts is a suggested roadmap that will lead to the successful collection of the funds over a 3-year period of time. It outlines possible giving structures at every level, from $6 a week to over $1,200, with an estimated number of givers at each level needed to reach the goal.
As you pray through how God is asking you to sacrificially give, this is a great visual to help you understand where you fall in the overall giving structure.
