An arched stone gateway with golden light spilling through — a threshold to cross
A Place to Belong

Belonging at Ashe Alliance.

Membership here isn’t joining a club or signing a form. It’s a real, two-way relationship — you commit to walking with this church family, and we commit to walking with you.

Most members don’t drift into a church — they’re invited in. At AAC, becoming a member is something we walk through together, on purpose. It’s a real relationship built over time, not paperwork to rush through.

Our process unfolds across five stages, following the natural arc of a new member’s first year. Each stage has its own conversation, its own pace, and its own promises — on both sides. What follows is the road map. Read it once. Reference it often.

The Pathway

Five stages, one journey.

From the first honest conversation to the everyday work of staying — this is how membership at AAC actually unfolds.

01
Before the application

The invitation.

A pastor or elder sits down with you over coffee and explains what membership at AAC actually means — and why we think you might be ready for it. This is where your questions and concerns come out into the open. We never want anyone to commit to something they don’t fully understand, so the application is always the confirmation of a conversation, not the start of one.

02
Application & elder interview

Talk it through.

You fill out a short, honest application — your story with Christ, your agreement with what we believe, the people in your life you’re praying for. Then two elders sit with you for an unhurried conversation and take time afterward to pray over it together. We’re not deciding whether you’re a Christian; we’re discerning, with you, whether this church and this season are the right fit for membership.

03
Signing & public celebration

Cross the threshold.

Once the elders confirm the fit, you make your commitment to this church and we make ours to you — and then we present you to the congregation on a Sunday morning as our newest member. You’re not asked to give a speech or make a public confession; we do the introducing, and the church family simply gets to come alongside you to welcome you in and celebrate. Membership here isn’t a private decision tucked away in an office; it’s something the whole church gets to rejoice over together.

04
Joining the rhythm

The launch.

Soon after you join, the elders sit down with you for a second conversation — this time about getting plugged into AAC’s rhythm of growth: maturing, ministering, and multiplying. Together we make sure you’re in a discipling relationship that keeps you growing, help you discern your gifts and where to use them in service, and walk with you as you begin pouring into others to make disciples yourself.

05
Years one and beyond

The long haul.

An anniversary check-in every year. A pursuit when life pulls you away from the church. An open door waiting when you come back. Real belonging is kept across decades, not just signed in a moment — and our elders carry that long view on your behalf, week in and week out.

A church that asks for signatures but doesn’t make its own promise back hasn’t formed a real relationship — it’s just filled a roster. Belonging at AAC is named on both sides, kept on both sides.

Step 1 · Start here

Start with a conversation.

The best place to begin is over coffee with a pastor — no commitment, no paperwork, just a chance to talk through what membership at AAC looks like and ask whatever’s on your mind. Fill out this short form and we’ll reach out within a week to set up a time.

Step 2 · When you’re ready

The application.

Already met with a pastor for the coffee conversation? Use the form below to apply for membership. An elder will follow up to schedule your interview.

What comes next

After Step 2, the journey continues.

Once your application is in and the interview is done, three more steps unfold — guided by elders, mentors, and the rhythms of life together at AAC.

04

The launch

05

The long haul
